The weight (in metric units) required to remove a magnet from industry-standard 3mm thick mild steel. A pull strength is calculated for each product wherever possible, and is helpful when comparing two magnets.
NOTE: It is not possible to produce a pull strength for some product styles (e.g. capped, horseshoe, etc). These "strengths" are measured using mathematical calculations, and should be used as a general guide only.

In rare earth neodymium magnets, the grade refers to the materials used in the production process. Material "grades" range from N27 to N52 (higher is stronger).
Some grades may be followed with a letter designation, which denotes a special increased temperature feature of a product.
i.e.
M - (Max 100°C)
Meliorated temperature

H - (Max 120°C)
High temperature

SH - (Max 150°C)
Super High temperatures

UH -
(Max 180°C)
Ultra High temperature

EH - (Max 200°C)
Extremely High temperature
Generally, price escalates as the product grade rating increases.

A measurement of "magnetic induction" (B), equal to one ten-thousandth of a Tesla.
Gauss indicates the number of lines of magnetic flux per square centimetre, under the CGS metric system.
The axis through which a product is magnetised.



For example, a disc magnet measuring Ø20 x 3mm will be magnetised through its 3mm thickness. This means the polar lines run upwards through that thickness, making the large circular face magnetic.
Products may be magnetised axially, diametrically or otherwise (e.g. multipole).
