Choosing the right magnet is tricky. If you spend a few moments understanding how magnets work, you'll be much more likely to get the right magnet the first time!
The most distinguishing feature of our magnets is the material they are made from. Rare Earth (also known as Neodymium), Ceramic Ferrite, Alnico Cast Steel, and Flexible Magnetic Rubber all have different characteristics that are better suited to some jobs than others.
You need to decide what is most important to you. Consider your application - what is the single most important specification? Perhaps you need the magnet to fit into a given size, or perhaps you need the magnet to lift a specific weight (aka Pull Strength)? Pick the most important characteristic, and then see what magnet is best suited using the table below.
