Description

A fold down shelf with a row of six hooks underneath, held on by two 66mm rubber coated magnets. No drilling, no brackets, and when you are finished the shelf folds flat against the back plate.

Goes on a toolbox, a tool cabinet, a shed frame, a steel post, a roller cabinet or the end of a workbench. Drop the shelf down for somewhere to put your phone, your coffee and the parts you are juggling, and hang the rest off the hooks.

The details
- Steel back plate 300mm wide x 170mm high x 20mm deep, with 6 hooks along the lower edge
- Shelf 150mm deep with an 80mm upstand so things do not roll off
- Back plate and shelf base are both slotted, so dust, swarf and water fall straight through
- Shelf folds flat against the back plate when not in use
- Two 66mm rubber coated pot magnet bases, each rated 18.00kg pull on 3mm mild steel
- Grade N38 Neodymium (Rare Earth) magnets in protective steel pots
- Durable black santoprene rubber casing on both magnets
- Black finish throughout
- Maximum operating temperature 80°C

Please read before use
- Always test the hold before you rely on it. Mount it, load the shelf with what you intend to keep on it, and give it a firm pull downwards and outwards. Surface condition changes everything: paint, powdercoat, rust, dirt and thin or curved steel all reduce the hold, in some cases by more than half.
- A loaded shelf is the hardest thing you can ask a magnet to do. The shelf reaches 150mm out from the wall, so weight sitting on it acts as a lever trying to peel the magnets off along their top edge, and peel is the direction a magnet is weakest in by a wide margin. The rated figure above is pull straight off clean bare steel, which is a different and far easier load. The real working limit is a fraction of it.
- Keep loads light and pushed back against the plate rather than out at the front edge, and do the same with the hooks.
- Not recommended for use on moving vehicles. Vibration and road shock load a magnet in the directions it is weakest.
- Do not mount it overhead, above a walkway, or anywhere a falling shelf could injure someone.
- Recheck the hold whenever you move it to a new surface, and after anything knocks it.

Why the rubber matters
The rubber casing protects whatever you mount it to, it stops the bases sliding down under load, and it takes the knocks that come with a workshop.
