Shear Force Estimator
This tool takes the pull strength you already know (in kg) and turns it into the force needed to slide the magnet off — because sliding is just friction: shear = μ × axial clamp. You enter the axial pull to 3 mm steel and (optionally) a tiny air gap; the tool knocks the axial down with a simple inverse-cube rule of thumb for gaps, then multiplies by your chosen friction μ. For magnet↔magnet, if you don’t supply that axial, we sensibly estimate it as 1.7× your steel value. Under each result you’ll also see how much lower the shear is than the axial you entered (as a % drop).
